Tribute to Allama Iqbal: WCLA Celebrates the Poet of the East
The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) is organizing a series of events throughout November 2024 to honor Dr. Muhammad Allama Iqbal, the renowned Poet of the East. These events are being held to celebrate Iqbal’s significant contributions to literature, philosophy, and the nation.
Celebrating Iqbal’s Legacy in Lahore
Starting from November 2, 2024, the WCLA is hosting weekend gatherings every Saturday and Sunday at the Tomb of Allama Iqbal in Huzoori Bagh, Lahore. These events, running from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, will feature poetry recitations and soulful performances of Iqbal's Kalam (poetry). It’s a unique opportunity for attendees to experience Iqbal's timeless words and connect with his philosophical insights.
The Tomb of Allama Iqbal provides a fitting and iconic backdrop for these events, making the experience even more special for those who attend.
Remarks by WCLA Director General Kamran Lashari
Kamran Lashari, the Director General of WCLA, emphasized the importance of remembering and celebrating national heroes. He stated, “The WCLA is keen to revive the cultural spirit of Lahore city, and remembering our heroes is an integral part of that mission. Dr. Allama Iqbal’s legacy is not just a part of our history but a guiding light for our future.”
Lashari also explained that these events are designed to inspire the younger generation by reconnecting them with the intellectual and spiritual contributions Iqbal made during his lifetime.
